The 14th edition of Auto Expo is set to take the centre place in the capital city of India in February this year. It is expected to see the auto giants across the world to gather at the event to showcase their new models and concepts, besides the launch of some fresh models.
Amidst biding hugely for SUVs in the country, the manufacturers are believed to bring some of the best crossover designed cars at the occasion. Besides, so many new products to be displayed at the event, the major highlight will be the SUV-crossover, Toyota CHR, from the popular Japanese carmaker.

The Japanese carmaker is finally expected to bring the popular hybrid crossover, Toyota CHR to India through the Auto Expo 2018. It is already on sale in the international markets. It is set to provide a stiff competition to the existing crossover-SUV in the country and will be one of the major product for the manufacturer. It has been developed under the Toyota’s new Global Architecture and is expected to be locally manufactured at the company’s hub. It will sport a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor, moreover, it may also get a diesel version in the country. Expect it to be priced premiumly at Rs. 16 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh.
India’s largest carmaker, Maruti is working on the crossover version of the Ertiga MPV, which is expected to showcased at the Auto Expo this year. It will be based on the Suzuki’s new ‘Heartect’ design philosophy featuring a crossover-ish design from the outset. It is expected to be powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that drives the MPV. Moreover, it is likely to get an AMT option as well. It will be competitively priced starting at Rs. 7 lakh to end up at Rs. 12 lakh.
Nissan’s cost-effective brand, Datsun is all set to launch the all-new Datsun Cross at the auto show in Delhi this year. It has been based on the Datsun Go Cross concept, which was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo. It has been designed on the same platform as of the Datsun GO Plus, featuring a rugged design and a refreshed interior ambiance. It is set to get a new dashboard layout with a touchscreen infotainment system. It will be driven by the same HR12DE, 1.2-litre petrol engine used for the Datsun GO+. it is expected to be quite affordable with its price ranging between Rs. 4.5 lakh to Rs. 6 lakh.
The American carmaker, Ford is set to bring in the crossover version of the popular Figo hatchback at the 2018 Auto Expo. it will be competing against the likes of Toyota Etios Cross and Hyundai i20 Active. With a new look and additional goodies, the all-new crossover model is expected to be priced slightly above the hatchback. It will be available in both petrol and diesel versions.
